Discovering Valley City’s Hidden Gems

Designated “The Frog Jump Capital of Ohio”, Valley City is the kind of small Ohio town where the edges of neighborhoods blend naturally into open farm fields, mixing quiet subdivisions with cornfields, barns, and a rich rural history dating back to the early 19th century. Many buildings and landmarks reflect that history. People know each other sometimes not by name, but by face, by wave, and by seeing one another at the local coffee shop, restaurant, park, or community event.

Families who have farmed the land for generations live alongside newcomers who moved in for a quieter life. Different backgrounds, ages, and lifestyles blend in a way that feels natural rather than forced.

The heart of the town is its strong sense of community. Festivals, parades, and holiday celebrations bring neighbors together year-round. Many of these township events are organized by the Valley City Community Group of volunteers who care deeply about keeping the town connected. (Check our Events page for all that happens in town). Families, retirees, longtime residents, and newcomers all come together to support one another and celebrate small-town traditions.  Differences exist, but respect runs deeper.

It’s a place where growth hasn’t erased tradition, open land still matters, and community is defined by how people show up for each other. That’s Valley City. Come visit and experience our small-town charm!

History in Valley City

For history enthusiasts, a visit to the Liverpool Township Historical Society Museum, housed in the 1895 Train Depot, which features a Porter Dinky steam locomotive and 1926 caboose, provides insights into the area’s past.
