On Sunday, August 21, 2022, the Valley City Community Group announced the township’s new frog mascot during the Valley City Street Fair. Kalli Gregory from Castalia, Ohio, won the Samosky’s Homestyle Pizzeria $100 Gift Card with her entry, Mayor Froggington.
Kalli said she wanted a name that would be cute and easy for children to remember. This was her first visit to the Frog Jump, and when asked how she learned about the festival, she said, “My mom actually found it by watching the news! My brother is a huge fan of frogs, so what could have been better?”
Kalli is a student at Bowling Green State University studying Neuroscience and the National Ambassador Queen for Miss Sparkle Nation, an organization which inspires, informs, and empowers women to shine and SPARKLE in all areas of life. Its goal is to promote unity and gain a sense purpose. Through this organization she promotes Cerebral Palsy Awareness. “Cerebral palsy is a neuro-muscular disorder that effects the movement of the body and is the number one motor disability in children. My Brother has cerebral palsy and he inspired me to help advocate [for the disease].”
She has sold her artwork through Kalli’s Creative Corner on Facebook to raise money for the cause. “I advocate for those that may have challenges but can still lead an amazing life!”
The Valley City Community Group (VCCG) President, Dave Smallwood also presented a check to the Liverpool Township Volunteer Fire & Rescue Association in the amount of $9450.00 raised by the VCCG through sponsorships. “We (VCCG) work hand in hand with the Township and are honored to present this check to help the cause at the fire station from the many local businesses and individuals who show their support.”
